Hiking Trails

Explore our hiking trails

The campsite is the start of the two hikes on the western slope of the Rooiberg. The River Hiking trail takes an hour and follows the contour lines above the Rondegat river, and gives a good overview onto the farm. The Rooiberg Hiking trail leads up onto the Rooiberg. Along this 3.5 hour trail one discovers numerous herbs and rooibos plants. The Geelhoutskloof hiking trail is an interpretation trail, where one can identify and learn the names of different fynbos species and trees.

Algeria

Nature Reserve Algeria

Algeria has campsites with barbecue areas and a beautiful swimming pool in the river. Several hiking trails as well as the one to the waterfall start from Algeria.

Waterfall

Waterfall at algeria

To hike up to the waterfall at Algeria takes about one hour. Crystal clear water and a breathtaking view reward you for this hike.

Bushman Paintings

Gallery and description of bushman paintings seen on our bushman-hike

Bushman paintings can be seen at several nearby places. One of our hiking trails lead to a rock overhang where lots of paintings of the san can be seen. We collected information about the paintings and show them in our gallery...

Lamberts Bay

Lamberts Bay: Enjoy delicious crayfish and watch the birds...

After about 1.5 hours drive one reaches the beautiful white beach of Lamberts Bay. Here one gets the best crayfish. Take a walk at the beach or visit Bird Island, an attraction to bird lovers...

Maalgat

Are you brave enough to jump from the rocks into the basin?

Another of the favorite places is the Maalgat on the farm Dwarsrivier. The river carved a deep basin in the underlying rocks. From the surrounding rocks you can dive into the river. The brave ones jump from 12 m height.

Other attractions in the Cedermountains are the historical mission station at Wupperthal. Or take a trip to the wine farm Cederberg with its marvellous Chardonnay...
